hello any help would be appriciated local taxidermists will not give any advice, well i am preping some whitetail, elk, mule deer capes for tanning i will be using bollmans tanning system. the questions is how do i know when i have shaved the capes thin enough and what is too thin no one will help me out i am a beginner and between a rock and a hard place this is all my own stuff i have invested alot of money in these capes and don't want to destroy them.

This has been discussed at length before and you can find it all in the archives if you hit the "search" icon. To answer your question tersely, shave the hides down until they attain a light blue hue. This is an indicator that you're close to the hair follicles which you do NOT want to cut into.
They may have some useful info on how to prep prior to applying the cream. Most suppliers do. But for me, like George said, shave until you see a slight color change, then stop.
