I was just wanting to do something with a deer hide but was wanting the hair off.
How is the best way a achieve this? Can I flesh it off w/a fleshing
machine? Thanks for your answers.

You best bet is to "Lime" it! Add 8 ozs. of Hydrated Lime to every 1 gallon of water and soak the hide in this soution - until the hair falls off at your touch! When it does - do the whole hide. Dont do a little bit and put it back in. Wait until it "all" comes off! Usually 6-9 days. After liming it - you have to "kill" the lime. Soak it first in water for 10-12 hours, then in an Ammonium Sulphate solution. After "killing" the lime, you can put it in the pickle and tan it like any other skin.
