When tanning a cape or hide, does it matter which side is down towards the tanning mixture[EZ-100 or Lutan]. What i mean is in the liqid, will the tan penatrate if the fur side is down? Due to deer capes floating to the top,i was just wondering about it?

Put a weight on your capes and hides and keep them submersed(under water) .Occasionally, take them out ,stretch, pulling out any creases, and return to tanning vat, again, weighing down.

a piece of plywood cut to fit the bucket or tub with several holes cut in it. And use a rock for weight to hold down just under the liquid. Not so much as to compress hide, just down out of the air. This also helps to keep the formic acid from evaporating.

Leroy, the skin side should be down, the hair side up but just remember to agitate the hide 1 to 2 times daily and everything should be fine.
