nuetralizing is only done after a complete pickle, you oil the cape after the tan.
If and when you have not properly Neutralized your cape, before the tan. The cape may have some acid swelling when tanned. A light baking soda wipe of the inside of the skin may help relax it, go very slow when applying this, because if over done you can have hair slip. You may even need to shave the cape again to get it thin enough. Many commercial capes have to be soaked, shaved, and neurtalozed.
