Thank you all in advance for any contributions you might give.
I have two nice doe hides in my freezer that I would like to tan for wall hangings.
Can any one offer a very easy to use product and any tips for my first try at this. So far every thing that I have looked at has just confused the heck out of me.
I can't even get any of the local taxidermy shops to tan them because they are to busy.
So what are my options? are there any one step products out there for people like me?
cream tan and softing oil and your going to need a acid also. This is a good tan but you still have some steps to go through ,1st you must get all the flesh, fat,and meat off 1st.Then you wil have to clean and mildly degrease then shave the hide as thin as possible and salt to set hair if you don't have any kind of fleashing machine i would recomend having someone else do it for you.e-mail me at:redtkr@aol.com i can get them done for you cheap if you want e-mail me for my ph # and if you want to still do your self after we talk ill explain in detail on how you can go about it.
is the best wall hanging tan i have found. I have never had any trouble with it.

can a person leave a deer cape in formic pickle to long if so what will happen how long is pickle good for before you have to nutralize it and dump, start new pickle?
just keep your ph at 2 or lower and you are good for months.
Could someone tell me how to read ph papers?
Do you just read the color at the water line,
or can you just throw it in the pickle to read it?
dip your paper in and compare to color on chart [ pickle that is ]
