LIQUA TAN

Submitted by TIM on 5/27/01. ( ) 204.136.184.34

Do you have to pickle a cape before you use Liqua Tan? How can you apply Liqua tan and mount the same day like it is advertised in supply catalogs? Is this possible? Has anyone tried this?

Thanks

There are new instuctions on how you should do it.

Here is a quick run down:

Salt 24 hrs.

Shake off and resalt for another 24.

soak in a salt brine

now either pickle which is recomended! but not needed

flesh the hide and rinse then dry with a tumbler or towels. You just want to dry it so that the hide is not soaking wet, just damp.

Now apply the liqua-tan fold and let set for 5 hours (OVER NIGHT IS MUCH BETTER)

Here you can mount it
Freeze it
Or dry it out and rehydrate at a later date.

So all in all it will take atleast if done properlly 3-4 days before you can mount it.
