Rehydration question.

I recently rehydrated a tanned deer hide. The tannery told me to soak the hide in cold water for 2-4 hours. I soaked it 1.5 hours until it was completely soft. However, the hair is fairly easy to pull out. I rooled the cape up, put it in the fridge for 1 night and then in the freezer. Can I expect the hair to slip when I mount it? I read in the archives to only soak them about 30 min. and THEN put them in the fridge. Did I do it wrong?
Thanks..Jim

Jim,
Call the tannery. There should not be any slippage after the cape is tanned commercially. IF you sent a prime, fresh hide, I'd ask them what the deal was.
