anybody out there ever flesh a bear in the early summer? well i went ahead and salted and tried to get it thoroughly dry even with a fan it was a little to humid . anyway i pickled the hide and wet tanned it i am currently waiting on the form so i put the hide back in the freezer < the hair was not slipping at that point, but i did notice that ther e was a hint of blue in this raearly season hide! > will i be in trouble if i were to mount it or will this be fine ! thanks very much! joe
This is like looking at a car in a cave. Try it thats all anyone can truthfully say. If tanned it should be fine.
Man, I had one come in yesterday, big boar and took forever to flesh it! Had 2 gallons worth of fat, but took forever.
I salt and let drain and resalt then hang inside the shop over a pole flesh side out and run a fan on high against it and it dries overnight well enough. If the fur was wet, I turn it fur side out too, and let the fan dry it, then I fold and lay in my hide pile there in the shop. Then I box up and send to tanner.Just make sure its well fleshed and then salt drained before running the fan on it.
