Lutan-F: Is It an Alum Tan?

Submitted by question on 6/12/01. ( ) 172.170.137.37

I was wondering if Lutan-F is an alum or chrome based tan?

I don't want my fur-skins to break down due to acid buildup in 10 years. Thus, I do not want to use an alum tan.

Thanks.

Lutan F (N) is an Aluminum Chloride mineral tannage. It doesnt contain any Sulphate like Alum does, and it doesnt contain any Chromium. Skins tanned with Lutan F (N) should last indefinately, since unlike Alum, which contains Sulphate ions, they will not recombine with atmospheric moisture to form Sulphuric acid. Lutan F (N) is a very long lasting tannage.

Thank you, Bruce!

Thank you, Bruce! What a fast reply!

Does your Pro-Plus Tanning Oil smell better than the WASCO soft-tan
oil I crrently have in use? This stuff reeks and does not leave a
pleasant "leather" smell afterwards, just an icky petroleum
distillate smell. Yuck! If yours smells better, I am switching
immediately!
