tanned capes slipping hair

I have a couple tanned deer capes that are slipping, is there anything that can be done to hold the hair until they are mounted and I can get a fan on them?
Capes wer tanned with saftee acid/ EZ-100 method, but the ph went high on me and I didn't catch it for 2 days.
Capes were then tumbled, oiled, and frozen.
Have just thawed and begun to work on them.

Had the same problem

Had the same problem 2 years ago. I started using 1 oz. of safety acid to 1 gal. of water instead of 1/2 oz. The ph never dropped. Also be sure you tan ea. cape in at least 4 gal. of water to ea. cape, and put them in a 15 or 20 gal. plastic tub, you can get at wal-mart for 10.00$ or so. If you don't soak in enough water and acid, the acid soaks into the cape, and raise's the ph. Had major problem's until I figured that one out.
I trashed the capes that slipped, and bought new one's. I have also sprayed denatured alcohol on some mount's that were slipping, and it seemed to help. Hope this helps. Good luck!
