I'm tanning my first hide for a wall rug. The instructions that came with the tan talk about "Teasing" the hide but do not describe what it is. Also, approximately how long does it take for a deer hide to dry?
Appreciate any help,
Bill
na na na na naaaaaaaaaaa.......you can't play in any deer games!
A tanned hide will be stiff as a board if you do no breaking/teasing to it. either tumble it or hold the hide and pull it back and forth over a corner of a table or something simular as it dries for a super soft hide. Check out bruce Rittels artical on the taxidermy.web. it is obtaining a softer hide or something like that. there is no approximate drying time. it just depends on your weather and humidity. hope i've helped.
