I do all my tanning in-house and I'm trying to locate a supplier for plastic tags for tagging my hides during the tanning process. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Why not try a punching holes in the hide. Many shops use this method with a better succes rate than that of plastic tags. Just a thought if you loose a tag who gets the hide? By using a punch code you can punch in a customers number and never worry about misplacing the hide or loosing it. Just a thought. Van Dykes have tags.
Newport, KY.....you have to seek from here.

I have stopped using tags long ago and mark my capes and hides with punch marks now.I bought my plastic tags from John Rinehart back then, they probably still offer them in their catalog. The tags were bright yellow with black numbers and they worked well. Good luck ...JL
Ive been doing it this way for years. Call Jonas Bros, get those round plastic tags, they will NOT break. One year I use green, the next is red. One thru one thousand. Increments of 100. Ten bucks per set. I cable tie them to the base of the ear cartilage, and every competent tannery Ive ever used has NOT shaved them off yet! I like them better then punching, but thats just my personal choice.
go down to your local farm supply store and get the cattle ear tags. They are virtually indestructable and come numbered.
Dave Toms
Them tags at the farm supply are made by the Haas family what own National Band and Tag Co. They invented them....
Invented those......I need to find out.
Thanks for the information guys. Until next time....

I use the tags that the farmers use for tagging their cattle. They are plastic and can be obtained from any farm supply store. They work great!
Good Luck,
