I'm looking for an easy hair on tanning recipe for rabbits and such. Any and all recipes are welcome.
Thanks, Mike

There are just to many to mention here. You have pastes, liquid, rub ons, those you need to soak. There all easy to use just follow directions.
But to answer your question with a question you need to tell us what are your needs with the skins. Is it for garments or just to lay down? This way we can be more help.

Needs for tanning recipe

I just want the hides to be soft to the touch. I have heard of a recipe that goes something like this. 5 gallon bucket of water, sulfuric acid (don't know how much), soak hide held down by a rock, soak for 30 days, stretch hide and let dry, then rub in some sort of leather softener. Can anyone fill in the gaps or tell me if I am way off track.
Thanks
Mike

Way off track!

Thats the old Acid Tanning formula you described - easy - but then there's so much acid left in the skins they fall apart! I would advise you not to use it! Also - never use a rock to hold the skins down, the acids will leach out minerals from it!
