I was told the most acurate neck measurments that you can take was on rehydrated cape itself and not the carcus. My question is will the rehydrated cape be OK if it dries until my form comes or can it only be rehydrated once? Most of my orders arrive in a week or so. The cape will be commercially dry tanned. How do most of you guys and gals do this if you measure the cape and not the carcus?
Thanks in advance, Tom
Hello Tom,
I personally would rehydrate it, take your measurements and freeze it till you're ready to mount.
Rehydrate in water and a bit of Bacteriacide & salt to prevent acid swell for 30-40 minutes.Take out of the water and let drip dry for about 20-30 minutes. Fold skin to skin, roll up and put it in the refridgerator over night to sweat.
Take out and stretch it out a bit.Go 1" below the ears and take the neck measurement there. Be sure not to over stretch! Go 3" below the ear and take another neck measurement there. This will give you your (B) & (C) measurements.
I'm asuming that you have already taken the (A)=eyes to nose.
Now that you have your measurements, freeze it!
Hope this will help you.
Have a good day,
Dave
