I have a question about salting a elk cape. I received a elk cape from Montana
and it was salted, but it was not hard. When I tan deer capes they get rock hard
after about 3 or 4 days. I resalted the elk cape when I received it, but it doesn't
seem to be getting any harder. Can I tan it the way it is or should I give it
more time? Thanks Eric
Wait until the cape has dried hard and has turned white.If it
is still soft, the hair has not set.
