Has anyone ever tried liqua-tan or curatan on a elk cape with good success? Any input would be appreciated. JG
I have mounted a bunch of elk with liqua-tan; it is an excellent product and will do the job just fine if used correctly.
The most important thing with a hide as thick as an elk is proper thinning! Shave that sucker down until it looks blue on the inside before applying the liqua-tan!
I suggest salting, drying, rehydrating and pickling before hand too!
