I am looking for info reguarding dumping out soulutions (salt solutions, pickles ,) . I have a septic and new lawn and dont want to damage either one. I have been sending my hides (deer) to tannerys but would like to go back to liqua tan. My customers and myself love the look and stretch of this tan. How can I safely discard solutions or can I safely apply liqua tan after washing ? TX Guy
I nutralize acid solution with baking soda before discarding. I dump itin same area behind house, far from my well, where I don't what grass/plants to grow. Salt will robe soil of oxygen, so plants will not grow where you discard. I use it as a shurb-weed killer around rock wall, borders etc!
First - talk to your Supplier! Normally most suppliers will gladly answer these disposal questions. If you have chosen to use a particular product - then obviously contact the person that makes it. I'm sure they would be willing to help you.
there ARE places to take hazardous chemicals which are really the only safe way to dispose of this crap. Remember, "we all live downstream". If you (and who know's how many others') are dumping this stuff in the "middle of nowhere" it eventually is going to make it into the ground water table even if mother nature has filtered much of it - it can't be a good thing...
BTW, while on the subject. Nearly all of the places around me that use to take old motor oil for recycling purposes no longer do so. Only Trak Auto and Pep Boys now take it. I no longer purchase ANY auto supplies from places that do not take oil. I suggest from an environmental standpoint - you all should do the same. They should make it mandatory to accept oil if you sell it - period. We're going to screw up our environment LONG BEFORE Osama gets us....
