Double Oiling

I have been messing around with a cow hide (2x3). It's all tanned (Lutan-F) and it came out pretty soft better than expected. My question is, would there be any benifit to double oiling, and if so how would I do that, just rehydrate, damp dry then oil? I realize I could shave it thinner, but I'm doing some personal R&D.

TJ,
DOuble oiling and breaking is always a good idea, especialy for the size hide that you have. Think "Base Ball Glove"(new)It's hard and stiff that you can hardly open or close it. The more times you oil it and beat it around, the softer and more plyable it becomes!
Your hide will work off of the same principle as that new ball glove.

Have a great day,
Dave
