I work with a lady who shows Irish Setters as a hobby. Today she asked a question about tanning that I could not answer. She is wondering if there is a way to tan sheep skin with the fleece attached so it is washable. She is looking to use it for her dogs to bed down on. I have no idea what to tell her. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The easiest to use choice - which produces a nice soft white leathered skin is EZ-100! If it becomes soiled, it can be washed in lukewarm water and a mild detergent (Woolite) in her washing machine.
Chrome and Gluteraldehyde also produce washable skins -but Chrome leather is blue-green colored and Gluteraldehyde leather and wool is a bright orange color. They are both washable in her washing machine and able to withstand extremely high water temperatures. These are the 2 tans are used to produce hospital Sheepskins so they can be sterilized after use.
