Use a taxidermy tan for garment item?

Three years ago I had two wolves tanned for taxidermy work, but now have decided I would like to use them for a parka, if possible. I have heard that the type of tanning used for taxidermy does not last as long as a garment tan. Is this true? If so, can I have the wolves re-tanned for garment tan? The tan seems to be holding up well, and there does not seem to be any weakness in the leather.

Were they professionally tanned?

If so, then they are either dry tanned or wet tanned. Wet tans aren't considered garment tans because they are not "broken" like dry tans. Dry tans ARE garment tans. SHOP tans can include a myriad of treatments, but seldom are they taken to the depth of a dry tan. Some are topical and don't penetrate to the degree immersion tans do, but that's a whole nuther can of worms.
