I am setting up my shop and am purchasing a compressor. What would you recommend for horse power, tank volume, and cubic feet per minute, to adequately run the flesh-all miniflesher and other shop tools.

I have a Craftsman 5.5 HP 25 gallon compressor that delivers 8.6 scfm at 40 psi, and 6.4 scfm at 90 psi. I set my pressure on about 60 psi to run my mini-flesher and the compressor barely keeps up. Its more than enough on all my other tools though. When it's time to replace it I personally will get something that cranks it out a little faster.
I run my mini at 40 psi and it is on a 5HP 20gal tank. Seems to keep up OK for me.
Hi Julee,
I have a one H.P. compressor for my tacking gun. As for fleshing, a 12 inch circular knife is 10 to 20 times faster, does a much better job, runs on a half H.P. motor, less nose, easier to use and I could go on and on.
Don't let the low price tag at purchase fool you, on the long run, your much beter off with the wright tool.

I bought a 5 horse cambell hausfield from walmart and works great. What we did it put that compresor in another building and ran a line to our shop. We also have a small silent type for air brushing in shop. The small one wont run tools but it is nice for airbrush.
No less than 3 HP for mini-flesher and other air tools. Anything less you will have a heck of a time getting that mini-flesher to work correctly. I use a craftsman 3hp and a campbell hausfield 1hp for air brushing.
