Pickle & Pressure Tanning

I am a beginner and learning more and more each day. I am using a pressure tanner and have never used a pickle before. I normaly just use the majority of the steps known to everyone and I use lutan-f in my tanner. After spending quite a bit of time on this site, I am learning the importance of the pickle. I think I have picked up that it is best to pickle for about 3 days. My question is, can I use my tanner to pickle, and can I cut the time down any because of the pressure involved? Thaks for any responses!

All I have done is used my auto tanner for pickling purposes. I split everything as normal. I then shave my green hide as thin as possible, I used to use a scalpel but now use my quebec lite. After splitting and green shaving, salt for 24 hours. After 24 hours of salting, put your hide in your pickle, pressurize to 50lbs and leave in for around 24 hours. After you pull your hide out of the pickle shave the rest of the way down to the blue. If you see any "pink" spots you may need to re-pickle and re-shave. After this, go about your neutralization steps you normally do and tan with whatever tanning agent you like. I prefer liqua tan and have not had any problems yet. This changes your pickle days from 3 to roughly 1. I hope this has helped you, if you have any questions e-mail me your telephone number and I will talk to you on the phone about it.
