How does one raise the pH of the EZ100 tan- ie; raising from 3.5 to 4.0? Also, I've read that 1oz per gallon of water and 2 oz per gallon of water was to be used on the EZ100. Which is correct? The archives haven't helped. Thanks...Patrick

Just for future reference, what's the proper way to lower the pH of EZ100?
HEllo Patrick,
EZ Tan takes 1/2 the chemicals than the Lutan F being 2 oz per every one gallon of water.EZ will take 1 oz per evry one gallon of water if you're not going by cape or hide weight.
To bring your PH level up, I would take some out of your mix and siply add more clean water to it till the PH level reaches the 4.0
You will want to add a bit more salt to make up for what was taken out of your mix. The Salt is stablizing the acids in the Tannins.
To bring your PH down, simply add more EZ to your solution untill you reach the PH of 4.0
Hope this helps and have a good day,
Dave
I thought it was something to that effect, just wasn't sure which way to go. Thank you...
Use Dave's advice - or another way to adjust, or raise the PH up to a 4.0 PH, is to dissolve some Baking Soda in some water and then add a small amount to your tanning solution, and test it until its a 4.0 PH. To lower it - I simply dip out some of my pickling solution, or add an acid in extremely small amounts, until its down to a 4.0 PH.
Yes - EZ-100 is used only 1 Oz. to each 1 Gallon of Water, along with 6 Ozs. of Salt. Whereas Lutan F (N) is used as 2 Ozs. of Lutan F (N) to each 1 Gallon of Water, along with 6 Ozs. of Salt.
Bruce- I ordered your Saftee Acid, Relaxer and EZ100 Tan from Vanyke's. The instructions are calling for 2oz of EZ100 per gallon. That's why I was confused. FYI. Thanks. Patrick
PAtrick,
I went and pulled the instruction sheets that go out to the customer with the purchase of EZ-100. Our instruction sheets state 1oz of EZ-100 per every 1 gallon of water. And if you weigh the skins and go by that formula, you would use 1/2oz . This is not to be confused with the instructions for the Lutan-F as I stated to you above in my previous response to you.
If needed, I would be more than happy to send you out another instruction sheet if the one you have is incorrect. Feel free to email me with your address.
Thanks and have a good day,
Dave
