I have recently acquired a buffalo hide to tan. This hide is totally covered with cuckle burrs (spelling?). Do you guys have any pointers on removing them from the hide, other than just ripping them out of the hair?
Thanks Alot,

I have used something like vegetable oil to remove burrs from the tail and mane of a horse. Might do the same for you.
I'm not sure if it's called a curry comb or not, but it is used for horses, (I think). It's like a 3 in. wooden paddle 3/8 in. thk. with small nails sticking out about 1 inch, and 1/8 in. or so apart. 2 rows of them. Hang the hide over a 2 x 4 and hose it down. Comb the burrs out when wet. It works like a charm. If you can't find a rough comb like this you could make one with a little work.
