De-skunk a skunk before or after?

So i have this skunk that smells like really,really strong onions. I know some recipies for odor removing. the skunk is skinned, and was wondering if you de-skunk it before you tan it or after tanning it?

I read your question wrong (thought is was before and after skinning). If it still smells by the time you are at the tanning stage you haven't deodorized it properly yet. Go back to step #1. Email me if you are having trouble.
