i just received my fleshing machine i am tring to set the guards i think i have them set right but the top of both guards are flared out about 1/4 of an inch on each side of the blade is this correct or should i try to bend them back in. thanks for any advice.

Chris I have A Dakota IV myself.It sounds like they are pretty close to where they need to be at the top.Your backside gaurd needs to be even with the blade and adjust your front side depending on how deep you want to cut.This machine turns a little slower than the big ones which gives you more control but due to the slower speed you will need to drag the skin a little slower to get a good deep cut.
