Whenever you add an Alkaline powder (like Baking Soda) to any acidic solution (like Formic or Saftee acids) - ALWAYS dilute it in Water first. This will avoid any violent reaction, as well as reduce the heat involved in such a chemical reaction.

.......and it'll prevent any valcanic reaction, spewing foam from one end of your shop to the other so fast that not even your shop vac can keep up with, especially while using Formic Acid, preventing you from walking out of the shop looking like a Rabid Dog!
Not that I'm talking from experience or anything!(LOL)
Do you and your shop floor a favor and,as Bruce stated, "ALWAYS" delute in water first.
