A QUESTION FOR ALL THE OLD HANDS OUT THERE

Submitted by Mitch howe, Montana Wildlife Artistry on 4/22/02. ( mjhowe@email.msn.com ) 209.181.11.170

First of all< I have been in this business for over 30 years and I just ran into a first!
Have you ever heard of this, I had a mountain lion come back from the tannery here in Montana with 2 very large holes in it, Well I am not one to do business with someone who damages all of my customers hides called them to see if they would accept responsibility for the damages, and here is what I was told, those holes were there because the cat laid on his back, in the back of a pickup truck overnite! and according to this person it happens all the time, if it happens all the time, then I guess I am pretty lucky for it to never have happened to me,
I guess I would like to have alittle feed back to see if anyone else has run into this NEW problem to deal with from the tanneries!

I'd have told him he'd never have to worry about that pickup or any other that my customers owned cause such problems ever again. I'd also tell him that I was telling people all over the world through the internet to watch out for that same pickup truck. I HOPE he didn't CHARGE you for the diagnosis as well.

Mitch,

I've had all my skins tanned in Montana for the past ten years and have never heard that excuse. Could be a new employee that got a little aggressive with the shaving. They should at least own up to it and not pull excuses from the sky. If you could email me at the address above, I'd be interested in knowing which tannery your talking about!

Mitch Thats the lamest excuse I've heard for holes yet. ( also a 30 year taxidermist here in the west) That tannery would buy the cat, etc. from me. One for the holes but mostly for lieing to me.

Never heard of it

I have never heard of a pickup truck causing a hole let alone two of them! They could have at least owned up to it. Holes happen, even to the best of us but dont blame it on a truck! By the way what kind of truck was it- i sure dont want one that puts holes in my skins!

It had to have been a Chevy.

Mitch, are you sure it's YOUR mountain lion? And remember the story of the LOST mountain lion from a tannery in MT awhile back? Curious if it's the same place that I've previously quit using for just such anomolies.
