got ready to place wt cape in acid bath, did not have the right amount to get ph right. do i need to do this step, or go right to the tanning . cape has been fleshed real good. or is their something i can make up to do the same job . any hepl would be great thanks.

Acid will destroy the non-tanneble proteins. I would wait until you can get more pickling agent and do it right.
