I recetly got a used Dakota II fleshing machine.
I also have a Daton 1hp motor.
My question: What size pully (motor) should I use on this beast?
Thanks, Josh

PS: Looking to buy 1-2 old used blades to expieriment with, just to get a feel for it.

give Keith Daniels a call at Arlington Cape. 1-419-365-5321. e-mail
arlcape@bright.net. He does darn good blade service, and probably has
some used blades available.

Pulley size

Josh
If you are a beginning flesher use a smaller pulley size to reduce blade speed and give you more control with your cut, somewhere in the range of 1 1/4" to 2". As you gain more confidence and your skill increases you may want to move up to a 3inch pulley which should give you a blade speed of 2000 rpm. Of course that is assuming that your 1hp motor is a 1750 rpm motor. If it is a 3600 rpm motor I would suggest NOT using it. You can find the rpm of the motor on the metal plate on the side of the motor. You do not need a 1hp motor, a 1/2 hp will work very well if you happen to have a used one laying around. If have other questions please contact me at Van Dykes 1-800-787-3355 ext 212. The Dakota II is an older machine that Van Dykes made many years ago but it should work very well for you. Be advised that it is a noisy rascal! I can also help you out with a blade and a little advise. Good luck Robert Phillips, Product Manager, Van Dyke Taxidermy Supply
