i just started my fist whitetail mount and im in the tanning stage. i work in my tool shop which doesnt have much air flow so its not much cooler in the shop than outside. the temp here is about 90. but my question is i have salted my cape and let dry and now im rehydrating the cape and during this i notice if i pull on the hair much it comes loose fairly easily. is this normal or has bacteria set up and what should i do or use to try to stop this. thanks alot.

You can use 1/2 lb of alum per gallon of water and 1 lb of salt let soak for 4 hrs before your pickle and then go to your pickle.Once you have your pickle mixed then put 1 oz of alum per gallon of solution, and your bacteriacide. this should help you out.

You can contact any taxidermy supply house for it that is close,
we carry aluminum sulphate Iron free powder. Try to get the Iron free
it has less impurities in it. then the low Iron.

If you dont flesh(shave) this cape, that alum is going to have a hard time getting in the skin.
That cape needs to be fleshed for that alum to get in good.
Your local feed store should carry it.Its also used as a fertilizer.
