I have heard that you can tan a snake skin by putting it in a jar of regular Prestone anti-freeze for several days. Has anyone tried this or heard of it?

I have tried this in my early days and I keep a couple of the junk pieces of snake skin around my shop to show my customers when they tell me they are gonna do this instead of paying me to do something they can easily do themselves. I let them atleast make an educated decision. I would suggest using the products available on the market that are made for this purpose. I use a product manufactured by Maverick Trading Post out of Farmers Branch Texas. Works beautiful for mounts , Rugs or just tanning skins. Their product is not made for anything but snakeskins.Hope this helps !
