I was in the middle of the pickle process when I fell Ill. I was not shure when I would beable to return to my new hobby. It has been in the freezer for five months half shaven. Will I be able to thaw and proceed on my deer cape?

why take it out of the pickle at all? with good quality acid and a clean hide. it should last in there for months...frezzning should'nt have hurt it unless the ph could change, which i dout.
and beside you have too thaw it out and procede any ways!

It shouldn't be a problem. Maybe bruce or mark or someone else will chime in on this. I did however have a cape that was still in the pickle when i moved and i didn't have time to shave as i had forgot about it and had already packed up my fleshing machine. I drained and threw in the freezer where it sat forgotten for 5 years. (was a spare cape not a customers. lol) I recently found it in the bottom of the freezer and threw in a fresh pickle thgen shaved and tanned without any apparent damage or harm. It did feel like the freezing may have expanded the tissue somewhat making thinning easier and the finished hide very soft. It may have just been coincidence though. Hopefully one of the tanning gurus will chime in.
