Marking Capes for Tannery

Submitted by Piper on 10/26/2002. ( ) 24.52.19.3

I've been searching the archives for an hour to no avail. What's the best (easiest)way to mark capes for the tannery. I would use cow ear tags but they want a small fortune for them.

Go over to the "SEARCH" key and when the screen comes up, type in "Marking Hides for Tannery". There won't be much there, but one phrase will key you to go back and enter "Punch Codes". That will tell you everything you'd want to know.

Found it!

Ask your Tannery

Piper,
I would suggest asking you tannery. Since all tannery's mark there hides in slightly different locations you would not want to put your mark (code) where they are putting theres. Also, Carolina Fur Dresing has just implimented the use of color coded plastic ties along with the use of punch coding to help differenciate hides/capes.

PUNCH IT!

Not being a cry baby, but, there is nothing that agrivates a shaver in a commercial tannery more than one of those metal cow tags with the round plastic number. If you hit one, sooner or later you will be grinding a blade. Even in the ear butts. Punch it!
