When rehydrating a taned Bear for a lifesize mount, can you do it like a cape?
In an article I just read it said to use a sponge to wipe down the leather side untill it is relaxed enough to stretch, and work with.
Seems like it would save a lot of time that could be used elsewhere
if I can just soak in salt water, bag and let sit overnight.
Thanks in advance for the advice. Ivan

Yes you can do a bear this way. I don't like to soak a bear hide for the hair will soak a ton of water and become very heavy. Now I will soak the head and feet in the water (PADS ONLY) and then take a spray bottle and wet down the hide this way. After the soak I bag it and sweat it over night in the fridge.
But if the hide is real dirty I will then after the soak wash it and then tumble it in the dryer on no heat but I use a ton of towels to soak up the water.
way that Frank does. Works great.
