Tanning sheep skins

I have a few farm sheep skins that need to be soft tanned, whats the best way to do it in the auto tanner. do you do it like you do everthing else or is there somthing special for the wool.

you can use Rotramels crystals [buckskin?] and freeze and then break for softness or just use Knoblochs para tan. I do the sheep the same as the deer in my auto tanners, they just require a good washing after fleshing and lots of painstaiking grooming once mounted.


Color of sheepskins

I'm hoping someone here can help. I'm writing a novel. It's set far in the past. I have figured out how my characters will tan their sheepskins, but I don't know what the sheepskins look like after they're tanned. All hair (wool) removed, just the skin. Does anyone know what color a sheepskin is after tanning?
