I think I got some bad info.......

Submitted by Shane on 11/22/2002. ( ) 24.49.190.175

I recieved my tanning kit from Van Dykes today (Syn-Oil Tan) and when I placed the order I was told that I didn't need pH strips. Everything that I have read says that I need to test the pH of the pickling solution. So I called customer service and the gentlemen that I spoke with said because I live in North Carolina there was no need to test the pH. Is this true?

I don't care if you live on the moon, you need to test the ph. Any where that sells swimming pool supplies should have a ph tester or ph test strips.

Shane,
I was the product specialist for Van Dyke's. I am now one of the full time taxidermist for both Cabelas as well as Van Dyke's.
Please allow me to ask you this question, who told you this? Van Dyke's does not have a male in our Customer Service,so they must have transfered your call to someone else. Can you tell me his name. I promise you that I will take care of this wronge information. Its flat out wronge!
You need to check your PH on a daily basis, wheather using Solpheric,Formic,Saftee Acid or Picling Crystals (Cytric). Check it on a daily basis! There are so many variances that can fluctuate the PH in your Pickle.
Things like this irritate the @#%& out of me. I,for the company, apologize for the WRONGE information you were givin. Its just NOT right. I'm sorry.
As much as I hate to give it out because of all the viruses I have gotten, feel free to e-mail me at home at gottahuntem@mit.mitco.net and I will help you in anyway I can.

Again,I apologize for the BAD information and have a great day,
Dave

Thanks........

Dave,

Thanks for the response on my question. The guys name was ìBob.î I called and said that I had a question and the girl put me through to his voice mail; and then he called back later that day. I thought that was odd that he would say that so I thought I would ask for a second opinion so to speak. I also told him that when I placed this order that I asked if there was anything else that I needed and she told me NO. So when I spoke with him I told him that maybe putting a note in the catalog or computer that would people know that the test strips are needed. Once again thanks for your response.
