I have just skinned two squirrel hides I have taken off all of the meat bones and most of the membrain. I let the skin out to dry, but two days later the hides were harder than a rock. What I would like to know is there any way to make them really soft....is there a solution,,a special way of doing it all? i hope someone can heip thanks

I taned a deer hide and it was hard also. I sanded it and binded and twisted it. Rubbed a rope back and fourth over it to that helped it to get softer.I hope that helps you. If it does email me.Bye
