i'am new to tanning is it ok to use tap water. I lost a
beutiful fox due to hair slipping. Followed directions to
the letter. Johnny Thorpe's Indian Tan is what I used. A
friend told me the tap water could have caused it.

The fox was trapped by me and skinned and fleshed. After fleshing,
The hide was
then washed with cold tap water and dish soap, towel dried the best I could, salted(plain Salt) and let set for 24 hours. I then shook
all the loose salt off and rinsed the hide with cold water. The
hide was then placed into the tanning bath for 12 hours.
when removed, no hair. Other than washing the hide after fleshing the directions included with the Indian tan was followed to the letter. There was no noticeable hair slipping at any time.
