steer hide

Can a steer hide be tumbled in a 55 gallon tumbler? I have done deer hides, but really am not sure just how big and difficult a steer hide would be. Can it be tanned in a 55 gallon drum or would I be better to use one of the brush on tans like Liquid-tan? The cow looks big alive, but I'm not able to judge the size of it's hide. Thanks for any responses. Joe

I think for your process what will work the best for you is to use a product that we make for this called Para Tan, you will only need 1 oz of tan per pound of skin. Remember these are some of the hardest skins to tan, their heavy, thick, and tough. You can tan in a drum but their are many veriables. If you get a chance give us a call here at Knoblochs and I will help you out with your options. 1-800-525-6379
