Question about sending hides to the tannery

Submitted by Jason Schmidt on 12/13/2002. ( jasonpudge@netptc.net ) 64.118.110.204

Hello I was hoping someone could help me out with a couple questions....

I have 5 deer capes and a full elk hide w/o head that I need to send in to have tanned.

1. what is the proper way to punch the hide for identification purpouses?

2. whould it be cheaper to send them in all together in one box or should I send them seperate?

3. I live in the Fresno,CA area and was wondering where the best place to send them would be?

4. how much should I expect to pay to have a deer cape tanned? how about the elk hide?

Any help you all could give would be greatly appretiated. Thanks

..they colored that SEARCH icon orange just for questions like these. As for tanneries, as I just answered below, click on the Suppliers banner at the top of the page and then click "tanneries". Shipping costs are usually by weight/by piece. Fewer boxes end up being cheaper.

Give Marty a call at the Old domenion Tannery...hes the owner and can answer all your questions about tagging and so forth...they have a VERY good tracking system and can track YOUR hides all the way thru the tanning process.....Im a rep for them and they have THE BEST tan around...If your shipping them it will be about the same cost to go to Texas as it will be to come to VA.....
Give us a try you will not be disipointed!
Call Marty ....tell him Mike sent Ya!

Old Domenion Tannery is new to tanning. He's not that experienced. If you want to trust him with your tanning, go ahead. I've seen some of his work and it's not that good.

Sounds like your a Tannery loosing work......

Not a Tannery

I'm not a tannery; just someone who knows the quality of Marty's work. In that this is an informational website, the general public is entitled to be informed as to the quality, or lack of quality, of anyone's workmanship. I would want to know about someone's false advertising claims, just as anyone would. Just keepin' it real.
