To the new guys- if you see a tannery begging for your work, look out! This time of year they should have all they can do. If you notice, the reputable tannerys dont come on here and ask for work. Tis a reason why they dont have work this season...

its called advertizing!no such thing as to much work. You telling me that they cant buy another shaver and put someone on it. Should chevy or ford stop building cars because they have sold to many allready. Give me a break!
Advertising? My ass! Why dont they pay for it like everyone else does? Yes there is a thing as too much work. Why is one of a taxidermists main complaints, TURN AROUND TIME! Another thing, Ford and Chevy would have to stop building cars if all they turned out was crap! Where is the e-mail adress Sean? Sounds like it might be www.billyjoe-jimbobs tannery.com
We are trying to keep thinks posative around here and stirring things up and using that kind of language is uncalled for, I know it was'nt that bad but still uncalled for. This is a great place to come and share advice and techniques and we all share many common bonds here, so lets all get along please. My e-mail is available, just put the dot where the word dot is . Good day O.S.
In the future, I will check my shop vocabulary at the door.
I am a Rep for Old Domenion Tannery in Va...I throw a few ideas about the company I Rep. for on here every now and then. Whats the Harm?
Company has a good product and excellent turn-around time. Should I not convey this when someone asks about a tannery? What kind of Rep would I be? The reason I do this is WE are proud of the work we do, we WANT more busniess. we WANT to grow! So tell me one more time how this is Wrong..This is a informational website, a helpful website and if someone asks a question about a good tannery with good turn around, I think Im intitled to tell them....after all isen't that what this web site is all about.........

What kind of rep are you, you ask? You are an employed rep, employed by Old Dominion. You want to keep your job, of course. Naturally you will put in a good word about your company (that's what you get paid to do). But that doesn't mean it's the truth. I've seen the quality of Marty's work and it's not all that. No slammin' here, man, simply the truth. If you think you are the best after only one year of tanning, then you're trying to fool everybody.
I am a Rep for Marty.......I get Paid...$00.00.....Im doing leg work for Marty Because he Tanned some quality pelts for me and I was so impressed, I took the chore of spreading the word about this great tannery in Va....Sorry you had bad luck with the tannery...(or did you?) Just because he is a small operation dosent mean the quality is not there. Do you tan hides? Every Busniess makes mistakes in the Beg. of operation and if you are a taxidermist you never made a mistake on a animal right?
Get real ,give the place a break, Procedures do change, and things do get better as the company grows....its just sad people like you try to run a quality operation in the ground.....If you wanna cont. this coversation. I can be reached at 540-287-0946

a tannery grows to keep up with turnaround time because their work is in such demand. The best advertising is word of mouth! Most of my comments are directed toward new taxidermists, not just to take a shot at the new kid on the block. Newbees can not afford for someone to learn how to shave, or tan their skins. They are trying to build a clientel, and they are also still learning. I am simply looking out for my future. Every taxidermist that folds means fewer skins in my line of work.
