Do you REALLY expect objective viewpoints? What kind of Dilbert would get on here and say they should have their license revoked? Would YOU? Fortunately Joe and Eric are straight, up-front kind of guys who bend over backwards to give personal service, but the idea of such a question on an open forum is just plain stupid. Why don't you CALL other taxidermists and speak to them individually or call East Coast and ask THEM to give you a few references to the quality of their work. They know they can use me and my phone number any time.

truth be told

Hey George. Do you REALLY expect evert tannery to tell you the truth! Surely you have had someone tell you something and had it not come true. Everyone in business will tell you what you want to hear to get your business. Not saying that these people arent very good to do business with I honestly dont know, but if someone had a bad experience why wouldnt they post it. Surely the people on here are entitled to their opinions and should feel free to express them good or bad. This is an OPEN forum isnt it? I swear some of the people on here really need to get their heads out of the clouds and come back to earth.

Bad or good

I have used them for all my crap work, bears! I have also sent many folks to them. As for what I've heard I do know that a hide or two have slipped but you know what is it the tannery fault or is it the way the taxidermist took care of it. I will say with total honestity is that 99 out of 100 problems is caused by the taxidermist and not the tannery.
I even had a problem with them at one time when I sent them caribou capes to them. When the flesher fleshed one he shaved it to thin. They called me that day it happend and went over all the capes and told me about the one and they couldn't shave the hideds down for me. Reason being was when I fleshed them I also shaved the hide so thin that even the pickle couldn't swell it enough for the shaver to do his job properlly. Whose fault was it, not their's but mine. To this day they can't even shave my bear hides for I shave them to thin while I flesh them but they knoa and I know what I want them to do.
But getting back to those that I know who caused a problem or had a problem with them, lets just say it was handled in more than professional manor. They replaced the bad capes with new ones at no cost, they took the burden not the guy who muffed up. That's a well runned business and they will always get my work!
So there yo have it two sides good and bad the out come of each is simply good. Call them there a good bunch of guys.

It's called "professionalism", pk

Praise in public, criticize in private. You want a truthful answer, you're always going to have to form your own opinions of others work. Tanning is a great example of this. Everyone knows that no tannery "guarantees" their work as they can't possibly vouch for field care, shop care, or just the nature of the beast. If I sent a hide out that was road killed and it came back with bald spots all over it, is it the tanneries fault? Ummmmm Maybe, but probably not. And if you got a reply that could be considered libelous, wanna bet the brave soul who posted it will use a REAL NAME AND EMAIL? So how can you "trust" anonymity? I still say even asking such a question here is plain stupid and counterproductive. Good tanneries stay in business, bad ones go away quickly.

George is OK, and so is East Coast

In my opinion they BOTH already are down to earth. I thought their tan was nice, they did some mule deer, elk and I think bears, also a few deer. No problems with the tan, and my shop smelled great for quite a while!

smells great?
