Oil OR Not?

Submitted by Homer on 12/16/2002. ( ) 205.188.209.103

I just recently tanned a hide with Liqua Tan,It is somewhat pliable, My customer plans on hanging it on the wall, I was going to finish it off with soft tan and break it,but have not received the soft tan oil yet, it is on back order and may bee a few weeks before I get it, So here is my Question:

A: Can I just rehydate and brek it down and forget about the oiling?

B: Break it down now in the state its in and be done with it?

This customer is in a hurry to get it back,I told him last week I would have it ready for pick up this week, This was before I found out the oil is on back order.

Promises

Needs to be oiled for a pliable skin. NEVER count your chickens before your eggs hatch, and NEVER make promises you may not be able to keep!

There are several Supply Companies out there that sells Knoblock Products. Look through your other catalogs, call and find who has it in stock!

Have a good day,

Try Breaking it

If it is not too dry yet, start breaking it. If it don't come out soft enough, you didn't loose anything. If it is already dry and hard, wait for the oil. Liqua-tanned deer, if worked properly, will soften up just fine without the oil, just not quite as good as with it.
