It's just a personal opinion, but I'd say your old method and your new method are just alike except one's powder and one's liquid. Kenneth Bauman swears by it, but the only time I tried it, I decided to stick with the tanning I had. You need to ask people who use it.

Going of 5 years......

and I am yet to have any problems with it. I may be blasted for using it, but until I find something better, I will continue to spray tan. You have to realize, George is very old, and he is not as open to new techniques. I heard that George actually mounted some of Teddy Roosevelt's personal trophies. I couldn't resist George.

And Ken knows I love him, so I'll have to overlook the jab. Sam, I don't think you have any worries on that. I got an email from a beginner last week who'd been told that if he used dry preservative, that the hair would fall out in 5 years or less. It's that kind of crap that bothers me. I've used DP in various stages for over 40 years and I've seen a helluva lot more hides eaten by dermistids that were tanned than I have DP'd. I don't use it on big game any more, stopped years ago, but give the devil his due, don't embellish it. I find that telling the truth, even if you don't like to, is much easier to remember than telling a lie.

Sorry George, I couldn't resist

George, you know I was only kidding. I think the world of George and respect his opinion. We have talked extensively about this and just don't see eye to eye. To answer your question. I have used it for about the last 5 years. I have had absolutely no problems with it. I can not say this about commercially tanned skins, acid/liqua tan skins, automatic tanner skins, DP skins, Lutan F skins and the list goes on. When I find a better product, I will switch. Oh, none of them are cracking or loosing hair. I can show various head tanned by other methods that have these problems. What happens to your mount after it leaves the taxidermy shop has alot to do with its problems. (Sunlight, heat, moisture, and so on. Good Luck, call Ben he can explain the whole process.

I used the spray tan for a while and had no problems. I always try new stuff, but I've had such good luck with DP that I still use it mostly. It really takes about 25 years to know if something is really good or not, but I can tell you this: I know Ben and he takes a lot of pride in his work and would not use it if he didn't think it was good. Ron
PS. Great response George.
