tanning oils are made specifically for tanning and softening leather and you would be best off useing them. Tanning is hard enough without making it harder on yourself. ;)

Buy "Tanning Oils"!

The truth is - natural oils simply will not penetrate or stay bonded in the leather like Tanning Oils! They are used to enhance the surface of the leather only!

Lets face it - if they did penetrate - they would also migrate because they dont have a charge and bond to the fibers. That means a lot of white socks will become very discolored from migrating oils!

Tanning Oils are usually treated by exposing the natural oils to an acid. This not only makes them soluable, it also gives them a charge. They are completely different from natural or "shoe" oils!

I never trust a salesman ;-)

Being a poor, uncultivated European, I'm quite interested in what's really in those marvellous American tanning oils which I can't esily get my hands on where I live. Using household oils have worked fine for me, though.

Huh?
