Hi
Today I shot a squirrel and skinned it with the tail still attached, it is scraped and streched out on a board rite now, I have salted the hide down and am wondering what to do about the tail, there is still alot of flesh around the base of the tail. I am going to have the skin tanned with tail attached if possible. What should I do? And what should I wash the Hide in that won`t damage it, to get the blood out of the fur?

You have to pull the tail out

Sorry, there ain't no easy way. It HAS to come out or it will rot and the hair falls out. Pour salt down the tail once it's removed and with a wire, make sure to tamp salt all the way to the very end of the tail. When you tan, it has to be washed out and tanning solution has to be poured down it as well. You should have done a lot more research before deciding to jump into deep water.
