Coyote Wall Hanger

Submitted by The Rookie on 12/27/2002. ( ) 64.12.96.198

I've done some tanning of deer hides but just got in my first coyote. My question is- Is it standard to tan a wall hanger with the paws on or off. I know I'm gettin into a stinky mess here but am trying anything I can to get my name out in the community. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I will be using Rittels e-z tan on this.

If its your choice, tan it paws on. People are going to ask, where's the paws.

What is the best method for removing meat from paws and should I refill them with clay as I saw reference to in the archives. I do ,of course, mean after it is tanned. Thanks for any imput. Really nervous about this project. Breakthrough mammal manual next on agenda.

Hello Rookie! Im not exactly sure what a wallhanger coyote is. If you mean a tanned lifesize skin then you dont need to mount the feet. But leaving them attached is a good idea. Make sure you skin the feet down to the last knuckle, i use a scalple for this and also for fleshing the feet. If a wallhanger coyote means something else please enlighten me.

Migda:
A wallhanger is nothing more than a skin.
