Where do I go to learn how to tan domeastic sheep hides?

I slaughter my sheep on my farm and usually throw the hides away.
I think I would like to learn how to tan sheep hides.
Where can I get started? Books, videos, tapes,or maybe a school to go to,etc?
Any and all info would be appreciated.

As long as you flesh them clean and then salt dry them - Sheep tan very easily - with very few losses from bad handling! However, they must be degreased during the tanning process - and you have to use a degreaser that cuts and removes lanolin! Some do - but the problem is, they are also difficult to remove because of the absorbancy of the wool. We carry a Rittels Wool Degreaser product that is simple to use - in fact once you remove the Lanolin, which attracts dirt and debris - you will think you are bleaching the wool! But you arent! It also rinses away free and clean!

The product is WD-608 Wool Degreaser. you can find it on our on-line website at: http://Rittelsupplies. net

Have a Happy New Year!
