Tanning coyote HELP

Submitted by Fritz on 01/11/2003. ( Fritz@nlc.net ) 208.44.186.37

I have a coyote that a friend wants it soft tanned so that it can lay on the back of her couch. I have skinned, salted, and fleshed it. I had plans on liquid tanning it and then liqua-soft on it then break it. This is the first time I have ever attempted something like this. Is this the right idea? Thanks for any help

Fritz, you should go ahead and put you're cape in the freezer, while waiting for you're pickling chemicals to come. Pickling is done before you tan you're skin's.It sterilize's the skin while plumping up the skin for easier shaving. It also make's the skin like a sponge , so when you go to tan you're skin 'the tanning chemicals penetrate much quicker. If you go to you're left and hit the search button you will find quite a bit of info. on this subject.Hope this helps.
